Individual Tutoring Session
Parents

Starla’s approach to reading is about fun, building on strengths, and learning new strategies to words.  Never did I think my daughter would “like” reading, but in just 3 short months of tutoring with Starla, she has new confidence and tools to make reading fun, not a source of frustration!

“Becky is the best out there! Our son has been struggling with reading for years. He would get upset when it came to asking him to read. He became anxious in school when reading with fellow classmates.

I am pleased to share, he is now at grade level for reading and feels confident to read on his own and out loud. Thank you Becky, you are the best!”

- Annie, mom of 4th grader

My daughter started working with Mrs. Glade two and a half years ago. While in school, she was receiving Title one reading services and not advancing. We found Mrs. Glade and worked with her twice a week over the next few years.

Our daughter went from a child who dreaded reading and working in a group of peers to a girl who reads every day, and will read in front of her peers. Mrs. Glade was a perfect fit for her to build the confidence and skills she needed not just in school but what will carry over to everyday life.

“My daughter has been attending OG training with Starla for about a year.  The advances she has made academically have been simply remarkable.  However, the advances she has made in her self-esteem have been absolutely priceless!”

- Chris, dad of a 8th grader

When our daughter was diagnosed in 2nd grade with dyslexia, our doctor recommended that we get in touch with Orton-GIllingham of Minnesota to find a tutor in our area. This was a very stressful and emotional time as we struggled to accept what lay ahead for our daughter.

I was so relieved to receive Becky Glade’s contact information. When I contacted her, she had an opening and started working with our daughter immediately. Becky is the perfect fit, as she is so organized and has a step-by-step approach to tutoring.

Our daughter does very well with her structured hour of instruction, as she knows what to expect every time she goes to tutoring. Becky is kind and loving, which put our daughter and I at ease right from the start. After more than a year of twice a week tutoring, our daughter is making huge strides in reading.

We are forever thankful to Becky for all she is doing for our daughter. She continues to be a huge blessing to our family. If you are searching for someone to help with reading, I highly recommend Becky for her professional and effective OG tutoring.

This was the missing piece I needed. I've read so many books and kept learning the why but nothing was telling me the HOW.

I got more out of this than taking LETRS and that was mostly because I was able to have a student to work with.

The practicum was by far and away the biggest help by allowing us to put everything we learned into practice.

The practicum helped me use real life lessons right away at home with my kids AND in my classroom to assess students.

I feel confident in teaching reading and how to correct student errors. The importance of fingerspelling, proper sounds for each letter and their rules make me a better teacher.

The practicum is what took this class from good to GREAT!

I feel empowered as an educator, at a level not previously felt. THANK YOU!!

The specific value from this class was I learned the sounds and how they relate to spelling and reading. So many things that I wish I knew sooner.
